Summary:
19.02.2012 - „Teneriffa - Weihnachten und Karneval“ (Dagmar) Heute war auf Taitonga Weihnachtsbescherung, denn meine Schwester hatte uns schon im Dezember, wie es sich gehört, ein Weihnachtspaket nach Teneriffa geschickt. Dieses konnten wir heute endlich, endlich abholen, dafür sind wir Herrn und Frau Schneider die Post für uns annahmen, sehr dankbar. Und natürlich vor allem den Absendern des Paketes, meiner Schwester, einer Freundin und meinen Eltern. Es macht auch im Februar noch Spass Geschenke auszupacken und Christian kann locker das ganze Jahr über Weihnachtsleckereien vertilgen... Die Überfahrt von Gran Canaria nach Teneriffa war an sich eine schöne Segelei, aber wir waren beide nicht in richtig guter Verfassung, wir müssen uns erst wieder an die Schiffsbewegungen gewöhnen. Es war aber wirklich Zeit von Las Palmas Abschied zu nehmen und den Standort zu wechseln. Bisher gefällt uns Teneriffa besser als Gran Canaria, wir liegen mit Taitonga im alten Fischereihafen ein Stück von der Hauptstadt Santa Cruz entfernt. Momentan ist hier grosses Karneval-Treiben, da ist mächtig Trubel in Santa Cruz, gestern haben wir uns ein wenig auf dem Rummelplatz umgetan und sind durch die Stadt spaziert, nachdem wir ein Mietauto organisiert hatten. (Was gar nicht so einfach war, da alle Autovermietungen genau diesen Dienstag- wegen Karneval- geschlossen haben. ) Die Kostüme der Karneval-gruppen sind ziemlich bunt und phantasievoll, vor allem die Jungs beweisen hier Mut zum Bizarren. Am Cruz de Carmen gibt es Rundwege durch den Wald mit Lorbeerbäumen, das war sehr entspannend, vor allem, da sonst kaum einer da war. Morgen werden wir versuchen, uns das Inselinnere anzuschauen, das hängt aber vom Wetter ab, vielleicht bekommen wir nochmal was vom Karneval mit und ein bißchen gibt´s noch am Boot zu tun, leider reinigt sich das auch nicht vor selbst. 19.02.2012 - „Teneriffa - Infrastructure“ (Christian) Yesterday we got a rental car (Fiat Panda (nicer than the Seat on Gran Canaria) after a dozen fruitless phonecalls (Many of the numbers on noonsite.com were out of business, I will send them an update, because it is a fantastic site for crusinginformation). We visited Heinz and his wife Lola from our club transocean.org. They care about sailors / clubmembers passing by. Very nice and helpful people! They gave me the opportunity to go to the internet with a very fast broadband; I downloaded every update which was available! I just realized that I bought the correct charger in Gran Canaria for the new laptop but with a 220V-Socket => Shit => I have to try to get one with a 12V Socket, before we leave! We had a terrible benzin-smell inside the boat and outside aswell. I checked the fuel-locker and found one of the jerrycans with a hole in the bottom! => I went into the bin (empty)! 20.02.2012 - „Teneriffa - auf Büttners Spuren“ (Dagmar) Heute war endlich das passende Wetter um in den Tejde-Nationalpark zu fahren, der Tejde, ein erloschener Vulkan, ist mit 3700m die höchste Erhebung auf den Kanaren und ganz Spanien. Vielen Dank an Familie Büttner, unsere ehemaligen Nachbarn, für den lohnenswerten Tour-Vorschlag! Die Fahrt dahin ist allein ein tolles Erlebnis, die Strasse windet sich immer höher durch Pinien und Kiefernwälder und durch die fast immer bestehende Wolkenschicht bei ca. 1500m. Wir hatten Glück und über den Wolken war gute Sicht an den vielen Miradores am Strassenrand. Je höher man kommt, desto mehr zeigt sich der vulkanische Ursprung dieser Inseln: eine karge Landschaft einerseits, aber sehr beeindruckend und einzigartig. Wenn es die Möglichkeit gibt und man die Strasse etwas hinter sich lassen kann, wird es sehr still und man hört nur den Wind und ab und an einen Vogel. Leider hatte das Visitor-Center geschlossen, es sah aus, als wäre die Ausstellung dort sehr sehenswert, aber wir bekamen immerhin ein paar Tipps. In so einem Gebiet muss man natürlich wandern gehen, auch wir waren dazu entschlossen. Wenn auch ich etwas mehr als Christian, der klagte recht viel als wir die Los Roques umwanderten (1,5-2h) weil er ja bekanntlich ungern zu Fuß geht und schon erst recht nicht, wenn er bergauf soll... Ich fand es ganz großartig: bizarre Felsformationen in gelb, rot und grau-schwarz und das Nachmittagslicht war genau richtig dafür. Eine einzige Kiefer hat es geschafft in einer Felsnische relativ gross zu werden. Sonst nur Büsche und kleinere Pflanzen, leider blüht momentan nichts dort. Eigentlich wollten wir danach noch ins Karneval-Treiben in Santa Cruz eintauchen, aber wir sahen schon auf der Autopista das Feuerwerk zum Abschluss. Wir hatten nicht gedacht, dass der Spass schon um 20 Uhr zuende sein könnte... So stemmten wir uns gegen den Zustrom von Menschen die die Busse nach Süden füllten und spazierten noch etwas an den Ständen entlang und probierten die Spezialität hier: Papas asado mit Füllung. Sind in einem Öfchen gegarte Kartoffeln, auf die Zwiebeln, Käse, Oliven, Schinken und diverse Soßen geklatscht werden und dann löffelt man das aus. War bisher einer der schönsten Tage und diese Vulkanlandschaft ein abwechslungsreicher Anblick, bevor wir für Wochen nur Wellen und Himmel zu sehen bekommen. 20.02.2012 - „Teneriffa - Footloose (Walking)“ (Christian) Dagmar forced me to walk with her for hours and about 4-5 kilometers (which felt like miles). It was very steep (up to 60%) and sometimes the path was hard to spot. I complained a lot, but it was not as bad as the Tongariroo-Crossing in New Zealand and indeed it was very nice! On the way back to the harbour we wanted to visit the carnival in St Cruz and were disappointed => All the people were coming into our direction => It was just finished (as early as 19:30)!!! What a pitty, but with the Teide-NP we already had our highlight of the day. 20.02.2012 - „Teneriffa - Cueva del viento“ (Christian) We had heard somewhere about a Lava-Cave here and wanted to visit the place. Lukily we got yesterday the phone number where we should call for reservation. This we did in the morning and as they do guided tours in german and english, they promised to push us in one or the other group ( they were booked out that day). It took us a little bit more than one hour to drive there and the last piece of the route is very steep up the hill to the well signed visitor-center. Right on the parking ground we met a german group and they offered us to join them for a reduced group price, because some of the group could not show up. So we joined them and got a very good guide, named Dragan for the tour to the Cueva del Viento, a wide spread system of tubes formed by lava. He told us first in general about vulcanos and the different types of lavaflows, now named after hawain expressions, because Hawai is the Number one for volcanic activity. But Tenerife and the Canary Isl. are a very interesting vulcanic spot itself, the vulcanos here are just sleeping, but giving a sign regularily and an eruption every 100-200 years. On Tenerife we saw the "Ah-Ah-Lava" named this way because it hurts when you walk over it, as it is very rough, uneven and sharp sometimes. These Lava was on the bottom of the lavatubes. And we saw the "....sorry, forgot these hawain word...-Lava" named so because it is smooth and even and you can easily walk over it. These lava formed the tubes, the sides and the ceiling. The Cueva del Viento ( Cave of the wind ) was formed by lavaflows 27000 years ago and today they discovered and cartographed around 18km of it, but they suppose to exist around 60 to 70km more! They prepared 200m of the cave for public, the rest is just accessable for scientists. There are no lights in it and they changed as little as they could so that we could expirience a natural environment ( we switched off our lights once and it was the deepest darkness we ever expirienced: totally black) After we had our general informations we walked through the forest over one of these ancient "caminos reales" to the cave entry. We got a helmet with a light in front and everybody was wearing good walking shoes. There are three different tubes above each other, we walked in the second one, around 4-5m high and 3-4m wide. There are more tubes underneath which are still not excaveted. So the system is like a house with 7 stories. The people there plan to open the 3rd tube to public (it is 18m high!) and do adventurous trips in it with a little adrenalin, so if anybody is interested.... To walk in such a tube formed by very, very hot lava (1200 Celsius) is exiciting and we got a lot of information about it. On some spots the ceiling is very thin, so if your unluky you could break through. This happened to an old lady in the beginning of 1900 and because of that the people began to recognise what they had there. Although the professional research of it began in the 1960-70s and the visitor-center began only some years ago. We liked the visit very much and had fun! The organisation is supported from the state and is not working for profit, but to buy the land over the caves to save the environment around it and keep it like it is for the future. |
